We are Kaptcha. We have an agile in-house team of production and post-production experts, and an extended family of the best creatives, DOPs, sound recordists, drone operators and other media specialists from the top end of British broadcast production.
Our teams are fully house-trained - reliable, polite and sensitive to working with high level executives, members of the public, celebrities and presenters. There’s nothing that fazes us.
Our post-production facilities give us everything you need for editing, grading, sound design, motion graphics, VR and distribution – and we also make a mean bacon butty.
Richard runs the Kaptcha team. He spent 10 years at the BBC and directed some of their biggest shows including Top Gear, Formula One, Crimewatch, Holiday and Gardeners’ World. He rose to become Commissioning Executive for Factual Programmes selecting popular new shows for BBC One and Two, while continuing to Executive Produce series including Saturday Kitchen and Escape to the Country.
After being headhunted to launch and run the Multi-Award Winning HSBC TV, Richard used his broadcast experience to bring the watchability factor to HSBC’s film output. He’s since replicated this success for other leading brands.
Outside work he loves running, cycling and golf. He wishes he was better at golf but isn’t sure if it’s lack of time or talent (or both) that is holding him back. He’s particularly proud of running the London Marathon and the even more gruelling 100k ultra-marathon ‘Race to the Stones’ in 2014.

Richard made his name as part of the team that relaunched Top Gear with Jeremy Clarkson. As a director on the show, he was instrumental in developing the Top Gear ‘look’ that, along with Clarkson’s presenting talents, made the show such a success. He must have done something right, because he stayed with the show for seven series.
But Richard’s not a one trick pony. He also directed shows like Holiday, What Not To Wear, Watchdog, Fifth Gear and Biggest Loser. He even had a short stint on The Only Way is Essex, which he doesn’t really talk about.
Richard joined Kaptcha in 2015 after three years directing Wheeler-Dealers both here in the UK and in California. He says he’s proud of his achievements in broadcast television, but he’s enjoying the fresh challenge of bringing his extensive talents to the corporate world.
